D.J. Bakker has been appointed as the new head coach of the Greensboro Swarm, the G-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, marking his fourth head coaching position. With over 11 years of coaching experience in the NBA, Bakker most recently served as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks. He previously held roles with the Detroit Pistons, where he was promoted from player development coach to head coach of the Motor City Cruise, achieving a record of 39-25. Bakker is recognized for his strong communication skills and emphasis on player development, aligning with the Hornets’ organizational values. He aims to foster a competitive team culture in Greensboro and looks forward to the new challenge. His background includes coaching roles with the Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors, where he contributed to the development of notable players such as Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet.
