Leicester lock Ollie Chessum is set to miss England's autumn campaign following a knee injury sustained during training in Girona. The 24-year-old, who had been in excellent form for Leicester Tigers, is expected to be sidelined for two to three months, ruling him out of matches against New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Japan. Chessum’s absence is a significant blow for head coach Steve Borthwick, as he was anticipated to start and had previously played a key role in the Six Nations. He had only recently returned from shoulder and thumb surgeries that kept him out of the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand. The final severity of Chessum's injury will be confirmed after scans, leaving England to adjust their lineup ahead of the autumn series.
