Premier League Clubs Spend Over £2bn in 2024-25 Transfer Windows

Premier League clubs collectively spent over £2 billion during the 2024-25 transfer windows, with Brighton emerging as the biggest spender at £231.4 million. Following Brighton, Manchester United and Manchester City were the second and third highest spenders, investing £202.1 million and £200.8 million, respectively. United's spending was largely concentrated in the summer, while City reacted to a poor run of form by making significant January acquisitions, including Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez. Chelsea and Aston Villa rounded out the top five, spending £196.7 million and £136.6 million, respectively. The trend of high spending is not limited to traditional 'Big 6' clubs, as teams like Aston Villa and Newcastle have also made considerable investments. Notably, some clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool opted not to spend during the January window, highlighting varied strategies among Premier League teams.
