A24 has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for Luca Guadagnino's new film 'Queer,' starring Daniel Craig, which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3. The film, adapted from William S. Burroughs’s novel, is set in 1950s Mexico City and follows the story of William Lee, an American ex-pat whose life changes when a young student arrives in town. The film features a cast including Drew Starkey, Lesley Manville, and Jason Schwartzman, and aims for a theatrical release later this year. Guadagnino and Craig expressed their excitement for collaborating with A24, calling the project a 'labor of love.' Originally over three hours long, the film has been edited down to 135 minutes, with some content involving Craig's character exploring gay bars in Mexico City being cut. Critics have already praised Craig's performance as possibly the best of his career.
