Shelby County jail employee arrested for alleged sexual assault of inmate

Ladonis Mayfield, a 31-year-old employee at the Shelby County Detention Center in Kentucky, has been arrested and charged with sodomy and official misconduct following allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior with a female inmate. The Kentucky State Police (KSP) began investigating after receiving a complaint on April 4, concerning incidents that occurred on April 1. Mayfield, who admitted to the behavior during an interview with KSP, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with the inmate on two occasions while she was held in isolation. He was arrested on April 7 and is currently being held at the Oldham County Jail with bonds set at $25,000 for sodomy and $2,500 for misconduct. The investigation by KSP remains ongoing.
