NHL Reinstates Blackhawks Execs, Fines Team $2M

The NHL has reinstated Stan Bowman, Joel Quenneville, and Al MacIsaac, key figures in the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault scandal, allowing them to seek employment effective July 10. These individuals had resigned in 2021 following an investigation into their inadequate response to allegations made by former player Kyle Beach against video coach Brad Aldrich. The NHL stated that Bowman, Quenneville, and MacIsaac have shown sincere remorse and made significant strides in personal improvement during their time away from the league. They have participated in various programs to better understand their responsibilities and address alleged acts of abuse effectively. Former Blackhawks president John McDonough, who was primarily blamed for orchestrating the cover-up, was not reinstated. The NHL fined the Blackhawks $2 million for their mishandling of the situation.
