Halo Remake Coming 2026, Day One on Game Pass

Microsoft and Halo Studios announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of 2001's Halo: Combat Evolved, due in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PC and — for the first time — PlayStation 5, and it will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the remake rebuilds levels, cinematics, visuals, animations and audio with 4K support, uses original assets and remixed music plus new voice work, and refines controls to preserve the original experience while serving as an entry point for new Halo stories. The release is campaign-focused with no competitive multiplayer but supports two-player console split-screen and up to four-player online crossplay co-op, and it adds three new prequel missions, nine additional weapons, vehicle hijacking, optional sprinting and other updates. The announcement followed leaks of a trailer and an early store listing, and some outlets have raised concerns about Unreal Engine 5 optimization and changes to the game's original art style. No firm release date beyond the 2026 window has been provided.
