Coral Gables Police Discover 31 Migrants in U-Haul

Authorities in Coral Gables, Florida, discovered a U-Haul truck filled with 31 migrants, primarily Chinese nationals, following an abduction report made by a vigilant security guard. The incident occurred around 9:35 a.m., prompting police to issue a 'be on the lookout' alert for a Toyota and the U-Haul involved. Upon stopping the vehicles, officers found 21 migrants in the U-Haul, including 16 females and 15 males from China, as well as individuals from Cuba and Ecuador. Police believe the migrants were smuggled into the U.S. by boat and were likely attempting to escape their smugglers, with the woman reported as abducted possibly trying to flee. Florida law enforcement officials emphasized that this incident underscores the need for immediate action to address illegal immigration and smuggling operations. Four suspected smugglers were taken into custody, while the migrants received medical assistance and were handed over to border patrol.
