Jorge Martin Fractures Hand, Foot in Sepang Crash

MotoGP reigning champion Jorge Martin suffered serious injuries during pre-season testing in Sepang, Malaysia, after crashing his Aprilia bike twice, resulting in fractures to his right hand and left foot. The 27-year-old Spaniard, who is transitioning from Pramac Racing to Aprilia, will undergo surgery in Europe following his hospitalization. Despite the severity of the crash, which saw Martin launched into the air and landing hard on the tarmac, he avoided further injury as confirmed by CT scans and MRIs. The crash has cast doubts over his readiness for the season-opening Thailand Grand Prix on February 28, although Martin remains optimistic about his recovery. Meanwhile, fellow rider Raul Fernandez also withdrew from testing due to similar injuries, and Fabio Quartararo topped the testing timesheets on the first day. Aprilia Racing Principal Massimo Rivola expressed confusion over the crash, noting no apparent error from Martin or issues with the bike.
