Paolo Sorrentino Receives Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award
Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival, held from August 15-22, 2025, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cinema. The festival will feature a retrospective of Sorrentino’s films, including the Oscar-winning The Great Beauty, as part of its 'Tribute To' program, and he will also conduct a masterclass sharing his insights on contemporary art. Sorrentino’s career highlights include multiple Cannes Film Festival competitions with films like Il Divo, This Must Be the Place, and Youth, as well as creating acclaimed TV series such as The Young Pope. Sarajevo Film Festival Director Jovan Marjanović praised Sorrentino for his ability to create emotionally rich, visually luxurious films that resonate globally through personal, local stories. Sorrentino expressed his deep honor and gratitude for the recognition, looking forward to participating in the festival. The Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award celebrates filmmakers who have made a significant global impact with their work, joining past recipients like Meg Ryan and Jesse Eisenberg.
