Georgia Ports Authority Reports 11.4% Growth at Savannah, 7.5% at Brunswick
The Georgia Ports Authority reported strong growth for the fiscal year-to-date 2025, with the Port of Savannah handling over 2.8 million TEUs, marking an 11.4% increase compared to the previous year. In December alone, the port processed more than 442,000 TEUs, reflecting a 4.7% rise. The Port of Brunswick also saw a significant uptick, with Ro/Ro cargo volumes increasing by 7.5%, totaling 443,763 units. Key infrastructure projects are underway, including a $40 million expansion of the U.S. Customs inspection facility set to open in March 2025, and the Blue Ridge Connector, an inland port expected to be completed by 2026. GPA's President, Griff Lynch, noted that the authority has experienced twelve consecutive months of container volume growth, indicating a positive outlook for the upcoming fiscal year. Chairman Kent Fountain emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance facilities to meet the long-term needs of customers.
