Reynolds, McElhenney Eye Welsh Fire Cricket Stake

Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, co-owners of Wrexham AFC, are in talks to buy a stake in the Welsh Fire, a franchise part of The Hundred cricket competition. Glamorgan County Cricket Club, which holds a 51% stake in Welsh Fire, sees their potential investment as a significant opportunity to grow the sport in Wales and attract global attention, similar to the success seen with Wrexham. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is currently selling 49% stakes in the eight Hundred franchises to raise around £500 million. The interest from Reynolds and McElhenney is among the most attractive bids, with their previous success in transforming Wrexham being a key factor. The deal would help invest back into facilities and inspire future generations to engage with cricket.
