Two Transit Stabbings in Queens and Los Angeles

Two separate transit stabbings were reported this week: one on New York City’s northbound 7 train near the 111th Street station late Sunday, and another on a Los Angeles Metro Line 204 bus on Saturday. In Queens, a 25-year-old man was approached from behind on the northbound 7 train around 11:20–11:30 p.m. and stabbed multiple times; he was taken to NewYork–Presbyterian/Queens, with outlets reporting his condition as either critical or stable, and police released an image of a suspect believed to be in his early 20s and asked witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers. In Los Angeles, a 50-year-old man was wounded during a confrontation aboard a northbound Line 204 bus near Vermont Avenue and 29th/30th Street around 3:50–4 p.m. and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. LAPD and Metro said the suspected LA assailant is a man in his 30s last seen wearing blue who fled on foot and authorities are asking the public for tips. Metro noted this is the second recent stabbing on its system, said officials are cooperating with investigators and reviewing safety measures, and pointed to its new in-house police unit.
