DeSean Jackson Named Head Coach at Delaware State

DeSean Jackson, a former NFL All-Pro wide receiver, is finalizing a deal to become the head coach at Delaware State University, marking a significant trend of ex-NFL players transitioning into college coaching roles. This follows the recent hiring of Michael Vick at Norfolk State, showcasing a growing movement of players with little coaching experience stepping into head coaching positions at HBCUs. Jackson, who retired in 2023 after a 15-year NFL career, aims to revitalize Delaware State, a program struggling with recent performance issues. He expressed a long-standing desire to coach at an HBCU, and after spending the previous season as an assistant coach at a high school in California, he is ready for this new challenge. Jackson will now face Vick annually in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), further intensifying the competition between former NFL stars.
