PLA Aircraft Carrier Fleet to Visit Hong Kong in 2025

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy's aircraft carrier Shandong, accompanied by missile destroyers Yan'an and Zhanjiang and the frigate Yuncheng, will visit Hong Kong from July 3 to 7, 2025, following recent far seas combat training and professional responses to foreign reconnaissance. The visit features public open-house tours, with 10,000 tickets for Hong Kong residents claimed within minutes. Attendees will be able to view shipborne fighter jets, helicopters, weapons, and observe training demonstrations. The initiative, approved by the Central Military Commission, coincides with the anniversary of Hong Kong's return to Chinese rule and aims to increase transparency and public engagement with China's defense modernization. The Shandong, China's first domestically built aircraft carrier, showcases the country's growing naval capabilities.
