L'Oréal Opens $160M R&D Center in Clark, NJ

L'Oréal has officially opened its new North America Research & Innovation Center in Clark, New Jersey, marking a $160 million investment and the company's largest facility outside of France. Spanning nearly 250,000 square feet, the center employs over 600 scientists and includes advanced features such as a 26,000-square-foot modular lab, a consumer testing center, and an on-site mini factory for product formulation. This facility is part of L'Oréal's global R&I ecosystem, which includes hubs in various countries, and aims to foster sustainable and innovative beauty solutions tailored to diverse consumer needs. Deputy CEO Barbara Lavernos emphasized the U.S. role in shaping beauty trends and the significance of this investment for local economic growth and workforce development. Sustainability initiatives at the center include solar panels, stormwater management, and employee-led gardening efforts.
