St. John's Coach Lou Carnesecca Dies at 99

Lou Carnesecca, the legendary Hall of Fame coach for St. John's University, passed away at the age of 99. Known for his iconic colorful sweaters and larger-than-life personality, Carnesecca led the Red Storm to 526 victories over 24 seasons, including a 1985 Final Four appearance. His career also included a stint with the ABA's New York Nets and securing 18 NCAA tournament appearances along with six NIT tournaments. Tributes from the basketball community flooded social media, celebrating his influence and legacy. Carnesecca was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992, and the university's arena is named in his honor. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 73 years.
