The BJP criticized Congress's allegations as baseless, claiming it to be an attempt to target the SEBI Chief without evidence. Zee group founder Subhash Chandra also accused Buch of corrupt practices, which SEBI officials dismissed as opportunistic and unfounded. The controversy has raised questions about regulatory integrity and the criteria for appointing heads of regulatory bodies. Congress has called for a Supreme Court intervention and demanded Buch's dismissal.
