Much of U.S. Faces Heat, Air Quality, Storm Risks
Much of the United States is experiencing persistent summer heat and humidity, with above-average temperatures in regions including central Indiana, Northeast Ohio, Southeast Louisiana, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and the Southwest. Las Vegas and southern Utah continue to face extreme heat, with highs near 110°F and some midweek relief expected. Wildfire smoke is impacting air quality in the Southwest and the Northeast, where Maine faces moderate smoke and elevated fire danger. Southeastern Nebraska is under severe thunderstorm and flood watches, with risks of damaging winds and flooding. Scattered showers and storms are possible in the Gulf Coast and central U.S. regions, and rain chances are expected to rise as weak cold fronts move in. Residents across affected areas are advised to remain alert for heat advisories, air quality issues, and severe weather threats.
