North Carolina Officer Charged in Capitol Riot

Two firefighters are recovering from injuries sustained while battling a massive fire at Dobson Trucking in Surry County, North Carolina, which resulted in a total loss of the building and significant destruction of property, estimated to be in the millions. Neighbors reported intense flames and were evacuated as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. In a separate incident, North Carolina police officer John Joseph Carl, 41, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors related to his actions during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Carl allegedly resisted police commands and entered restricted areas of the Capitol during the breach, leading to his suspension from the police force. He is among over 1,400 individuals charged in connection with the Capitol riot, with ongoing investigations into similar cases. Authorities continue to seek information related to the Capitol breach.
