Louisville names Deion Branch wide receivers coach

Louisville football has promoted Deion Branch, a former standout player and Super Bowl MVP, to the position of wide receivers coach following Garrick McGee's departure to North Carolina. Branch, who has been with the program as the Director of Player Development since 2021, previously served as the interim head coach during the 2022 Fenway Bowl. In his playing days, Branch achieved significant milestones with the Cardinals, including two consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons and a total of 2,204 yards with 18 touchdowns. As the Cardinals look to build on their recent success, including a 9-4 finish in 2024, Branch will work closely with a talented group of receivers. His experience in the NFL, notably with the New England Patriots, will be invaluable as he aims to develop the team's offensive capabilities further. Under head coach Jeff Brohm, Louisville has seen a notable improvement, finishing with back-to-back seasons of nine or more wins for the first time in a decade.
