Pete Townshend Plans Solo One-Man Shows After Who Farewell Tour

Pete Townshend has announced plans to pursue solo projects after The Who's final North American farewell tour, which concludes on September 28, 2024. Although The Who will not continue touring due to their age, Townshend intends to remain creatively active, working on his solo album "The Age of Anxiety," based on his 2019 novel, featuring 26 songs exploring themes of mental health and addiction. He has about 140 additional tracks in development and plans to experiment with solo shows. Townshend also expressed that despite a sometimes difficult relationship with fellow bandmate Roger Daltrey, the two will continue collaborating on special projects and charity events. Reflecting on the tour and the band's legacy, Townshend views The Who more as a brand and tribute to their history, recognizing their duty to both the music and their fans.
