CAF Reveals 2025 Men's Player of Year Shortlist

The Confederation of African Football has published its 10-player shortlist for the 2025 Men's African Player of the Year, featuring Mohamed Salah, Achraf Hakimi and Victor Osimhen. The other nominees are Iliman Ndiaye, Pape Matar Sarr, Oussama Lamlioui, Serhou Guirassy, Denis Bouanga, André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Fiston Mayele. CAF said nominations cover performances from 6 January to 15 October 2025 and were chosen by a panel of Technical & Development Committee members, experienced coaches, CAF Legends and selected media. The announcement also included shortlists across coaches, clubs, national teams and youth awards, highlighting Morocco U20, Pyramids FC, young striker Othmane Maamma and goalkeepers Édouard Mendy and Marc Diouf among nominees. CAF praised Hakimi for PSG’s historic quadruple and high Ballon d’Or placing, Salah for his role in Liverpool’s Premier League win, and Osimhen for a title-winning debut season with Galatasaray. The ceremony date and venue have not been confirmed but are expected in December.
