LA Earns First Michelin Three-Star Restaurants

The 2025 Michelin Guide California marked a milestone for Los Angeles, awarding its first-ever three-star ratings to Providence, led by Chef Michael Cimarusti, and Somni, led by Chef Aitor Zabala, which reopened in West Hollywood after closing in Beverly Hills in 2020. Providence was promoted from two to three stars and retained its Green Michelin Star for sustainability. Somni achieved three stars upon reopening, highlighting its immediate impact. Additionally, Restaurant Ki and Mori Nozomi in Los Angeles earned their first stars, while three other LA restaurants received Bib Gourmand honors. Sonoma's Enclos debuted with two stars—the first in its region—and Oakland's Sun Moon Studio earned its first star. The guide now features 65 starred establishments across 55 cuisine types, with Michelin inspectors evaluating ingredient quality, technical mastery, chef’s personality, and menu consistency.
