Israel Premier Tech Cycling Team Plans Rebrand Amid Pro-Palestinian Protests
The Israel Premier Tech cycling team announced a rebranding and will drop its Israeli identity amid widespread pro-Palestinian protests disrupting their participation in international races such as the Vuelta a España and Giro dell'Emilia. Co-owner Sylvan Adams, an Israeli-Canadian billionaire who has served as an unofficial ambassador for Israel through the team, will step back from daily operations and cease speaking on the team's behalf, focusing instead on his role as President of the World Jewish Congress, Israel. The protests and resulting disruptions, including canceled race stages and safety concerns, prompted sponsors like Premier Tech and Factor to demand a name change for the team to continue receiving support. Despite the rebranding, the team remains committed to its mission of developing cycling talent globally and maintaining its social vision, exemplified by initiatives like the 'Field of Dreams' cycling center in Rwanda. The decision to rename the team reflects a strategic sacrifice to secure its future amid heightened political tensions and public pressure. The new team name has not yet been disclosed, but the change is set to take effect in the 2026 season.
