Ex-Met Police Sergeant Pleads Not Guilty to Upskirting, Indecent Exposure Charges
Christopher Herd, a former Metropolitan Police sergeant, has been charged by Essex Police with one count of indecent exposure and three counts of upskirting, alleged to have occurred both on and off duty between March and July 2024 while traveling on public transport. He was initially arrested on August 30, 2023, on suspicion of indecent exposure while off duty and later on suspicion of the additional offences. Herd was suspended following his arrest and subsequently resigned from the police force on March 1, 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on May 16, 2024, with a trial set for June 12, 2025, at Chelmsford Crown Court. During his court appearance, he confirmed his identity and entered his plea. The charges and court proceedings highlight serious allegations against a former law enforcement officer involving inappropriate conduct during his tenure and after.
