Sacramento police resolve domestic violence standoff peacefully
A standoff between Sacramento police and a domestic violence suspect began Thursday night around 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex on Orchard Lane. Officers set up a perimeter and called in SWAT and crisis negotiators to encourage the suspect to surrender peacefully. The situation escalated into Friday morning, and the suspect, believed to be armed, refused to leave the apartment. By Friday morning, police entered the apartment and found the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officer Anthony Gamble expressed disappointment over the tragic outcome, emphasizing the department's desire for a peaceful resolution. The incident has been handed over to the county medical examiners for further investigation.
