Joni Mitchell has announced the release of 'Joni's Jazz,' a 61-track box set celebrating her extensive exploration of jazz, available on September 5 in 4CD, 8LP, and digital formats. The compilation, hand-selected by Mitchell, includes collaborations with Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus, and Jaco Pastorius, along with rare live recordings, unreleased 1980 demos, and alternate takes from major albums like 'Songs to a Seagull,' 'Hejira,' and 'Mingus.' Dedicated to the late Wayne Shorter, the physical editions feature liner notes, rare photos, and Mitchell's original artwork. The set also features her 2023 Newport Folk Festival rendition of 'Summertime' and unreleased demos such as 'Be Cool.' Preorders are currently open for fans. This release underscores Mitchell’s enduring impact on both folk and jazz music.
