Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Albany
A small twin-engine plane from South Carolina made an emergency landing on the northbound New York State Thruway near Albany around noon on December 20, after the pilot reported icing conditions. The Beechcraft Travel Air, registered to S & S Aviation, had three people onboard and no injuries were reported. The aircraft took off from Fairfield County Airport in Winnsboro, South Carolina, at 8:35 a.m. and was en route to Bennington, Vermont. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, closing two lanes of traffic while the plane was moved. This incident follows a recent fatal plane crash in Western New York, raising concerns about aviation safety in the region. The FAA is expected to release a preliminary report on the incident soon.
