Emma Raducanu has faced an unfortunate incident with jumping ants while preparing for the Australian Open, resulting in swelling on her hand and ankle due to allergic reactions. Despite receiving offers for antiseptic spray to alleviate her symptoms, Raducanu chose not to use it, citing concerns over recent anti-doping cases involving players like Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek. The 22-year-old emphasized the need for caution regarding the substances she uses, stating, "I’m just going to tough it out because I don’t want to risk it." Raducanu had also been dealing with a back spasm that forced her to withdraw from the ASB Classic, but she feels ready to compete against Ekaterina Alexandrova in her opening match. Her training has improved thanks to the guidance of her new fitness trainer, Yutaka Nakamura. Raducanu expressed confidence in her preparations despite the setbacks.
