Karen Read Defense Seeks Morrissey's Emails for Retrial

Karen Read's defense team has filed motions to access personal emails and texts of Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey, arguing these communications could contain evidence relevant to her upcoming trial. The defense claims Morrissey improperly communicated with court officials and witnesses using personal accounts, which they allege could include material exculpatory evidence. This request follows revelations by blogger Aidan 'Turtleboy' Kearney that Morrissey used his personal email to send a message with potential evidence to a prosecutor. Additionally, Read's attorneys are seeking the release of impounded sidebar transcripts from her first trial to aid their preparation for her retrial set for January. Read, accused of murdering her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe, by hitting him with her SUV, maintains her innocence, claiming she was framed. Her first trial ended in a mistrial, and she is also facing a civil suit from O'Keefe's family, which will proceed post the criminal trial.
