Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Multi-County Chase, Gunfire North Carolina

Linc Nolan Bloomfield, a 61-year-old Texas man, was arrested following a multi-county carjacking and shooting spree across Yancey, Mitchell, and Avery counties in North Carolina on July 7. The incident began with a carjacking at the Ingles parking lot in Burnsville and escalated into a chase along Highway 19, during which Bloomfield fired a .22 caliber pistol at multiple vehicles. The extensive manhunt caused a shelter-in-place warning for residents near Newland, heightening community fear. Bloomfield's vehicle was located in Avery County, where he eventually wrecked the car, fled, and was later found hiding and taken into custody without incident. He faces multiple charges, including common law robbery, shooting into occupied vehicles, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, with additional charges pending as the investigation continues. Despite the severity of the events, no injuries have been reported.
