Apple Debuts iPhone 16e with C1 Modem

Apple has launched the iPhone 16e, a budget-friendly smartphone priced at $599, featuring the new custom-designed C1 modem chip and the A18 processor for enhanced performance and battery life. It includes Apple Intelligence features such as ChatGPT integration, a 6.1-inch display, and a 48MP camera system, while replacing the previous iPhone SE and iPhone 14 models. The C1 modem, derived from Intel's technology, supports sub-6 GHz 5G but lacks mmWave capabilities, marking a shift away from Qualcomm modems. This launch coincides with Apple's discontinuation of older models and a transition to USB-C connectivity under EU regulatory pressures. The iPhone 16e aims to boost Apple's market share in regions like India and China and represents a significant design upgrade by omitting the home button.
