South Portland Police Chase Ends in Drug Bust, Arrests Two Men

In South Portland, Maine, two men from Massachusetts were arrested following a high-speed police chase that culminated in a collision with a police cruiser. The incident occurred early on February 8 when officers attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding, but the driver, 21-year-old Hamza A. Mahamud, failed to comply and eventually reversed into the police car. Upon apprehension, officers discovered a significant stash of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl disguised in candy wrappers, as well as a concealed weapon and drug paraphernalia. Both Mahamud and his passenger, 33-year-old Gerald A. Daughtry, were charged with multiple offenses, including drug trafficking, and are being held on $30,000 cash bail each.
