Gorillaz Plans Ninth Album The Mountain Featuring IDLES, Multi-Language Collaborators

Gorillaz have announced their ninth studio album, The Mountain, set for release on March 20, 2026, through their new label KONG. The album features a diverse array of collaborators, including IDLES, Johnny Marr, Black Thought, Anoushka Shankar, Sparks, Yasiin Bey, and the voices of several late artists such as Bobby Womack and Tony Allen, with songs performed in five languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba. Recorded across multiple locations including London, India, Syria, Los Angeles, and Miami, The Mountain explores themes of life and existence with a musical meditation infused with global rhythms. The band will support the album with The Mountain Tour, starting in Manchester on March 21, 2026, and including dates across the UK and Ireland, culminating in a stadium show at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20, 2026, with support from Sparks and Trueno. The lead single, "The Happy Dictator," featuring Sparks, has been released to showcase the album's eclectic and international sound. This project marks a continued evolution in Gorillaz's sound and artistic vision, blending cross-cultural influences and a broad spectrum of musical styles.
