Billy Connolly Unveils New Limited-Edition Artworks in Glasgow
Sir Billy Connolly, the celebrated Scottish comedian and artist, has released four new limited-edition artworks as part of his Born On A Rainy Day series, reflecting on personal and memorable moments from his life. The pieces include 'Saturday Night', inspired by his 1976 tour supporting Elton John, featuring a piano player doing Elton's signature leg move, and 'Sausage Tree', which recalls a family outing in the Scottish countryside named by his daughter. Another work, 'Sunburned', depicts a sunburned Scotsman in Connolly's own tartan design, inspired by a stand-up routine about his pale skin, while 'Fly Away Peter' shows a multicoloured figure surrounded by birds, showcasing his unique humor and love of bold colors. Connolly, who began drawing in 2007 and retired from comedy in 2018, has expressed newfound confidence in calling his art beautiful, despite previous self-doubt. He also recently warned fans about AI-driven scammers impersonating him and his wife, urging caution with unofficial accounts. The artworks are available through Castle Fine Art and have drawn attention for their vivid storytelling and connection to Connolly's storied career and family life.
