Sarah Gigante won stage four of the Women's Giro d'Italia with a solo attack in the final kilometers of the climb from Valdobbiadene to Pianezze, finishing 25 seconds ahead of reigning champion Elisa Longo Borghini and Marlen Reusser. This victory marks a remarkable comeback for Gigante, who returned to racing after surgery on her iliac artery and a shoulder dislocation that sidelined her for six months. Marlen Reusser reclaimed the overall lead with four stages remaining, holding a 16-second advantage over Longo Borghini, while Gigante moved up to third place, 34 seconds behind. Former leader Anna Henderson suffered a significant time loss, dropping to 34th overall, potentially due to the effects of a crash on the previous stage. Anna van der Breggen also lost time on the summit finish and is now out of contention for the overall win.
