Florida Man Arrested For Killing, Eating Pet Peacocks Over Neighbor Dispute

Craig Vogt, a 61-year-old man from Hudson, Florida, was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty after admitting to killing, cooking, and eating two of his pet peacocks. Vogt took this drastic action to retaliate against a neighbor who continued feeding his peacocks despite his objections, even leaving a letter warning that he would keep killing his birds "to prove a point." He described cutting the birds' necks, bleeding them out, and cooking them in a frying pan. While being taken to jail, Vogt told deputies he would kill all of his remaining peacocks if anyone tried to take them from him upon his release. The number of total peacocks he owned was not specified, and authorities have not disclosed the fate of the remaining birds. Vogt faces a third-degree felony charge and is awaiting further legal proceedings.
