Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has launched StopScams.ky.gov, a comprehensive website aimed at protecting residents from online scams that cost them over $74 million annually, according to a 2024 FBI report. The website offers resources to identify scams, report suspicious activities, and recover lost funds, along with options to sign up for scam alerts via email or text. This initiative, led by the Public Protection Cabinet and developed in partnership with state agencies and private resources, focuses on education, awareness, and reporting to empower Kentuckians to stay safe amid rising scams fueled by technological advances like Artificial Intelligence. Governor Beshear emphasized a simple message to the public: pause, check, and protect before responding to unknown contacts. The program also includes educational events such as Scam Jam and Shredding events to further assist residents in safeguarding their personal information.
