NC Man Arrested for Threats to ICE, Police
Johnathan Trent Thomas, 27, of Linwood, North Carolina, was arrested after allegedly making violent threats against ICE agents, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers, and previously, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, demanding a stop to immigration enforcement activities. Thomas reportedly called CMPD, threatening to come to Charlotte with body armor, night vision equipment, and armor-piercing ammunition to 'shoot them all' if further ICE arrests occurred, and referred to a recent deadly police ambush, claiming he could outdo it. Authorities state he has a history of threatening law enforcement, including following patrol cars and making prior threats to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. He also claimed to have explosives around his property to deter police entry. During a search, officials seized three rifles and a handgun from his home. Thomas faces federal charges of threatening to assault or murder federal law enforcement officers, with a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
