Road Closures Announced for WorldPride, Philly Pride, New Bedford Celebrations

Washington, D.C. is preparing for the WorldPride celebrations with extensive street closures and parking restrictions in place from June 5 or 6 through June 9 to accommodate the parade, block parties, and street festivals. The WorldPride Parade will assemble on 15th Street NW, marching through various downtown streets and ending near Constitution Avenue, while the 17th Street Block Party and the WorldPride Street Festival will take place in Dupont Circle and along Pennsylvania Avenue, respectively. The Metropolitan Police Department has outlined emergency no parking zones and specific street closures to manage traffic, with some areas allowing local traffic only. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes such as U Street NW, Massachusetts Avenue NW, and Independence Avenue SW during the events. In addition to D.C., the Philly Pride March and Festival will occur earlier in June with similar street closures and detours, highlighting nationwide Pride Month activities. Meanwhile, in New Bedford, a local bar will host an After Pride Block Party with street closures on June 7 to create a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community.
