Colorado Paraprofessional Sentenced for Abuse and Gun Incident

In a separate incident in Colorado, Imagine Kay Ewer, a former paraprofessional, was sentenced to four years in prison for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old special needs student and manipulating him to bring a gun to school. Ewer introduced the student to drugs and sent thousands of explicit messages, with the relationship coming to light when a teacher noticed inappropriate writing on the student's worksheets. Ewer's actions were discovered to have started in September 2023, and she pleaded guilty to charges including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. The victim's mother expressed betrayal, stating Ewer exploited her son while pretending to care for him. Ewer will also face a minimum of 10 years on the sex offenders' register and probation, potentially extending to life.
