Jeff Casteel Returns to West Virginia Coaching Staff

Rich Rodriguez, the new head coach of West Virginia, is reportedly finalizing his coaching staff for the upcoming 2025 season, with Rhett Rodriguez, his son, expected to join as the Quarterbacks Coach. Rhett, who previously served as an analyst at Jacksonville State and has collegiate quarterback experience, will be joined by several other assistants, including longtime defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel. Casteel, who has a storied history with West Virginia football, will return to the coaching staff after previously serving as defensive coordinator from 2001 to 2011, contributing to multiple championships and bowl game victories. His specific role on the staff is still to be determined, pending other hires. Casteel's extensive coaching experience includes stints at Arizona and Nevada, and he has been recognized for his defensive prowess throughout his career. As Rodriguez builds his staff, he still needs to fill positions for secondary and special teams coaches, as well as an offensive coordinator.
