Sherratt Leads Wales' Japan Rugby Tour as Interim

Matt Sherratt remains Wales' interim head coach for the two-Test rugby tour of Japan in July, with the Welsh Rugby Union still seeking a permanent successor to Warren Gatland. Sherratt is supported by a refreshed coaching team, including first-time kicking coach Leigh Halfpenny. The 33-man squad features six uncapped players, and Dewi Lake will captain the side in the absence of Jac Morgan, who is with the British and Irish Lions. Several senior players, such as Dafydd Jenkins, Adam Beard, and Will Rowlands, are unavailable due to rest, injury, or undisclosed reasons. Wales will play Japan in Kitakyushu on July 5 and Kobe on July 12, aiming to end their record 17-match losing streak. The interim setup is intended to provide stability while the WRU completes its head coach recruitment.
