Rescues After Kayak, Boat Overturns Reported Mississippi,Pee Dee Rivers

Two separate water rescue incidents occurred over the weekend involving boaters in distress on major rivers. In Tipton County, Tennessee, a man who flipped his kayak in the Mississippi River was rescued by the Tipton County Fire Department and Munford Fire Department Swiftwater team; both he and his daughter, who was nearby in her own kayak, were wearing life jackets which helped keep them afloat. Meanwhile, on the Pee Dee River in Darlington County, South Carolina, a boater's vessel overturned, but the individual managed to swim to shore and call 911 for help. A good Samaritan assisted first responders by transporting them upstream to the stranded boater, who was found safe but visibly shaken. Both incidents involved coordinated efforts by local fire departments, EMS, and sheriff's offices, with investigations ongoing by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for the Pee Dee River case.
