Saina Nehwal Reveals Arthritis Battle

Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal, who made history as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in badminton and has competed in three Olympic Games, has revealed that she is battling arthritis, which has significantly hampered her training. The 34-year-old expressed that her condition makes it difficult to train for the required duration to compete at the highest level. As a result, she is contemplating retirement and plans to make a final decision by the end of the year. Despite her struggles, Nehwal reflected on her successful career with pride, acknowledging that she has given her all to the sport. She also highlighted the emotional difficulty of potentially ending her career, given that it has been her lifelong pursuit since the age of nine.
