The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Scotland are in preliminary discussions to form a combined Great Britain cricket team for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, marking cricket's return after a 128-year absence. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has proposed a six-team tournament format for both men's and women's cricket events, which will likely span a week. An ECB spokesperson expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasizing the opportunity to inspire new cricket fans. British Olympic Association chief Andy Anson highlighted the need for unity among the UK nations to establish a single governing body for the cricket teams. Cricket Scotland aims to actively participate in the management and player selection for the proposed teams. The logistics of qualifying and tournament details are still in development, but the integration of players from both England and Scotland is anticipated.
