According to the Futurity Investment Group's Cost of Education Index, Sydney is the most expensive city in Australia for parents to send their children to school, with the total cost for a private education reaching $411,108 over 13 years, representing a 9% increase from the previous year. This figure is significantly higher than the national average of $350,158. Government school costs in Sydney also rank high, averaging $150,323 over the same period, which is 22% above the national average. Brisbane has been identified as the most expensive capital city for private schooling in terms of annual fees, while Perth has seen a 30% increase in public education costs, making it the second most expensive for public schooling. The rising costs of education are a growing concern for families facing financial pressures from the cost of living. Experts highlight that ancillary expenses, which include tuition, uniforms, and technology, are contributing to the escalating total costs of education.
