Judge Overturns $72 Million Verdict Against Boeing

A federal judge in Seattle, James Robart, has overturned a $72 million jury verdict against Boeing in a lawsuit brought by electric-aircraft startup Zunum Aero. Zunum alleged that Boeing stole trade secrets and interfered with its business operations, but Robart ruled that Zunum failed to provide sufficient evidence that the information shared with Boeing qualified as trade secrets. Boeing had initially invested $9 million in Zunum, but the startup ran out of cash and suspended operations in 2019. Zunum expressed disappointment and plans to appeal the decision. Boeing, on the other hand, was pleased with the ruling, citing the court's thorough consideration of the evidence.
