Harry Potter Star Miriam Margolyes Reveals Limited Life Expectancy After 2023 Heart Surgery

Miriam Margolyes, best known for her role as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films, has revealed she doesn't expect to live much longer, estimating she may have only five to six years left. In 2023, she underwent a less invasive aortic valve replacement surgery using a cow's valve, which she says saved her from open heart surgery. Despite the success of the procedure, Margolyes continues to suffer from multiple health conditions including spinal stenosis, arthritis, and rheumatism, leaving her with limited mobility. She is registered as disabled and relies on walking sticks, a walker, and a mobility scooter to get around. Margolyes expressed a strong desire to keep acting, though she yearns for roles that do not confine her to a wheelchair, acknowledging she is not strong enough for such parts currently. She has also admitted that physical pain and limitations may prevent her from continuing certain performances, but she cherishes the joy acting brings her.
